Go get some quotes, but don't expect it to be cheap at local body shops. I have a dent in my pass. fender that can't be pulled out, the shops were pricing me around $600, now that includes a new fender, but the fender only cost $100 or so, plus a fender is a lot smaller area to paint than a hood, BTW that price was before blending which all shops told me would almost definitely be necessary.

lol... blending. When I had my side skirts installed, they just took the paint code and used the paint off the shelf... looks perfect.

Yeah..BS on blending. I've done color swaps forever. I can understand if you are painting like the roof or rear 1/4 panels, but not a removable body part.

Totally agree. With the small gaps between the hood and the fender, you will never be able to tell (as long as you get the correct paint code)!

werd, The ONLY time you need to worry about blending is if your paint is noticeably faded, and paint doesnt usualy fade that badly when car have clearcoats, unless you dont take care of your car's body at all.

And what makes you think a six year old car isn't faded? The red toners start fading out of a color within the first year. Clear will hold off the effects of the elements, not stop them. If you had something painted with no blending it's because the painter knew enough to check for varients on the color, or he got very lucky, or you're simply not that fussy about it. I would spot it in a second. These are colors that Dupont, PPG, Sikkens, or whomever come up with to match factory variations from car to car. Different batches of paint, painted at different times, painted at different facilities, color switch on the line all cause paint colors to vary. Trying to hit a six year old color out of the can without tinting is either very lucky, or skill. If you dont believe me ask somebody who pulled their ding strips abd found a color difference even though the car had no paint work done to it.
