He's not that bad of an actor at all; if you get a chance, watch "The New World" (Terence Malick's 4th movie in about 40 years); it is one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen and Farrel barely speaks during the flick. It's very transcendental (almost an art-flick), but it can really suck you into the story if you open up to it.
Big tangent, though; I'm looking forward to seeing Miami Vice as well. Apart from the fact I grew up watching Crocket and Tubbs kick butt on the idiot box, I have a standing rule to watch anything Michael Mann puts out. "The Insider" has been my all-time favorite of his so far.

Yeah, but as cool as Vice was, I think Fastlane actually did it better.  I mean, Tiffani Thiessen is SOOOO much hotter than Edward James Olmos. And you never got to see Tubbs busting out with a PAIR of Desert Eagles.

Didn't see much of fastlane but it was kinda campy/comedy.
Miami vice was more on the serious side, as much as it could be for the 80's at least. And Don Johnsson was so cool, and he had that [censored]' ferrari.
That Testarossa is still a hot car to this day:

I will go see it I loved Miami Vice but is anyone else tired of hearing Rap music in every movey that comes out.

watching the miami vice marathon on tvland now. loved the show when it was first out and still love it now. will definitely watch the movie. i'm giving ferrell and foxx the benefit of the doubt for this one.
and fastlane was a great show imo. courtv reran the show last summer. hope they do it again so i can put together a dvd set. i doubt fox will release the show on dvd. i thought it was a slicker looking miami vice loaded with better cars and hotter women. it doesnt have the heart that miami vice had but was fun to still watch
