What's funny is that you can tell just how awesome the Ford GT is, just from how much it bothers people that it's out there and that it does everything so well, bone stock.
What is ridiculous to me is that people imply that Ford couldn't make the GT eat the Z06's lunch x 20 if they really wanted to. Comments like they need a blower to make the same power (from a lesser displacement motor at that), etc. etc. Come on... if you don't think Ford has the know how and experience to make something equivalent or greater than the Vette motor, you are seriously ignorant. This was a limited run P.R. marketing car to get people to look at Ford again, and celebrate their anniversary, not to claim world or domestic dominance forever and ever!
I hear the comments about the performance per dollar argument. That is true, no doubt. I'm proud of Chevy for making such a great car that is so close to the GT in performance and for a good price! It will probably exceed the GT in future models... that's expected. Now, park both cars in a parking lot and watch the Vette get basically ignored and watch people flock to the GT to get a look at one up close and personally. That is a lot of what you are paying for with the GT, exclusivity, the mid engine supercar layout/chassis, and a supercar driving experience.
With all of that said, I think the Vette Z06 is just completely badass!! BUT, it just boggles my mind that the Z06 just HAD to be brought up in a post about a Ford GT turbo kit What is the point of that besides showing how threatened someone obviously is by this car? That is true Chevy boy behavior there, and the reason the general car public perceives Chevy fans as complete idiots. Chevy loyalists seem incapable of respecting vehicles from other makes for what they are, and they have to run their mouth about it. Ford is my favorite make, but I love the Z06, BMW M cars, AMG Benzos, Dodge SRT cars, Supras, EVO's, etc. They all have their strengths and weaknesses and all are different, which is awesome!
Fords have always been more complex and difficult to work on, higher quality (more expensive) than Chevy's, and that has always scared the simple minded hot rodders away from them over to a Chevy, where a 350 is a 350 is a 350, and CHEAP and easy. No thinking involved there.. just follow what the billions of others have always done.
Just my take on it. There are many exceptions to the above of course. I have met some Chevy people that are thinkers, and they don't feel the need to bash other peoples stuff because they know that bottom line, most carmakers can make something completely badass if they really want to.

I'd take one. I saw a video of one at the track... even with a really crappy launch it still ran a 10 second 1/4 mile.

I agree with you completely that that extra dough for the GT is entirely worth it for the whole package that it provides. The car is amazing, and I've admitted that it is VERY NICE several times. I'm just saying it isn't the easiest, cheapest, or has the best aftermarket out there. But I guess if
To clarify for you, I also like many MANY different makers of autos. When I saw that TTGT, it reminded me of a certain TT Z06 with a bit more horsepower I had learned about from a friend months ago. So, I decided to post it up for you guys to compare. Perhaps throwing in the "isn't that cute" joke just flared up tempers and I shouldn't have put it in my post. I hope you don't think I'm pigheaded for offering up a rival to the GT and then arguing it's qualities.

I understand that some people like the exotic nature of the GT and that can't be denied when compared to the ZO6, but the bottom line is this, the Ford GT is a "tribute car" and the Corvette has been made since 1953, although there were some dark days (most of the 70's), but its stood the test of time and to reiderate, is the Ford GT worth $100K more than the ZO6, come on now
I like the new vette. I don't like the wierd seating position. I felt awkward when i drove one.
I like looking at them. they are fast and handle great. The price is good. But, compared to the vette's pricing, i would take the new mustang shellby. Now comparing to the new z06 which is coming out now at around 78-80k i would opt for a "ford gt".
Anybody who has that much money to spend should buy both lol..
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

You know which car felt like it was made for me? The '04 Viper. For some reason the pedals were in the exact place I wanted them to be, the shifter was the perfect distance for my long ass right arm, and the seat was heavenly for my back. I can't say the same of the C5s I get to ride around in all the time. Plus there was a perfect amount of head room. I back the Corvette up all the way to the bank, but the Viper is the car I really want. Sure it's slower and doesn't handle as well as it should, and at WOT it sounds like a cat howling, but there is just something about it that gets me. I'd take one over either the GT or the Z06. But, alas, that was only a short test drive at my uncle's old dealership...If I had the money to buy it *dreams*....

What I've seen so far: 1. Ford GT rocks, and it does even more with 2 turbos 2. ZO6 is better cuz it's way cheaper and almost as quick, take the money saved and build up a super crazy roxxorz ZO6 instead Where I see this thread going: 3. Yeah well Shelby GT500 costs way less than a ZO6, i could take the money saved and build an ultra spectacular time machine fast GT500 that would be teh hella fastAr. 4. Yeah well I could buy a '92 Civic DX and run Tractor pull boost pressures through it and pwn you worse than Hydramatic in the original TTGT thread. 5. Yeah well I could take a <insert cheaper car than last argued here> and put <insert ridiculously ambitious mod list here> on it and <insert 1337 haXor pwnage phrase here>. And there you have it. Thread done. Anyways, the GT is beautiful, the ZO6 is beautiful, and the Shelby GT500 is beautiful. I can't even imagine being driven in a GT with twin turbos. I did somehow get to see (in person) the Ford GT featured on the cover of an upcoming issue Motor Trend today. It did have twin turbos putting 900 HP to the ground, but they had the kit off and the S/C back on when I saw it, which only made an anemic 710 HP at the wheels .

Both cars are great and have equal perf numbers for the most part, but if you wanna "WOW" people, get the Ford GT. I'm a Chevy guy and in particular, a Corvette guy, so I'm VERY biased here. BTW, have they (Ford) taken care of that problem with the rearends of the Ford GT
