I also cringe when I see people driving around without their kids buckled up. I did not grow up that way. My Mother's car never shifted out of Park until everyone was wearing their seatbelt. Consequently, I buckle my belt either first thing when I get in the car or right after I start it. Seatbelts save lives, period. If you disagree, then you are denying reality and substituting your own warped one.

Driving back and forth between school this year, I have seen 2 fatal crashes that killed 5 people. In both cases, the occupants of the car were killed when they were ejected through the winshield after being rear ended or rear ending someone on the highway. The really sad thing was that the wrecks weren't that bad, and that if they had been wearing seatbelts, they would be alive today to talk about it.

my mom was the same way, she actually said to us "the car wont start until your seatbelts are buckled" and she wouldnt start the car until we all were fastined in... lol going down memory lane... I remember when I was about 5 years old I was sitting in the passenger seat, my mom gets in because she was in a rush and started the car before I had put my seatbelt on... I said to her "mommy! something must be wrong with the car!" My mom replied with a "what?" "The car started before my seatbelt went on, something is wrong with it!" lol, that still makes me giggle a little today... I loved that 92 Lebaron... that thing HAULED 3.0L V6.
