You mean on a straight line right! As comparable as the leaf spring suspension can be to the GT suspension. So likely could a custom built drag civic.

The GT was built to knock out Ferrari's on the track not at a drag strip.

Andy W. The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

That thing looks like dookie. Where they trying to use a little metal as possible? It's not like there isn't enough room in there for proper bends. The Heffner GT looks MUCH better.

Gentlemen,

What we have seen in this thread is a textbook example of 'ownership.' I, for one, am gregariously laughing my proverbial ass off!

* calls wife: Honey, do we get an "A" plan on GT's?

I'm a little late on this thread, but reading Swazo's post on the new TTGT thread reminded me

I love both Z06 and the GT. Never driven a GT but loads of z06's new and old. Anyways the Z06 in the Nurburgring fast lap was NOT supercharged, which wrongly reported in the mag and since been cleared up on the net. Which makes it even more impressive. Though the driving was done by a professional racer.

Secondly you have to take top gear with a grain of salt. I wouldn't count on it for accurate data, but definitly good entertainment. Though I don't doubt the GT would be amongst the leaders. Not to mention they have yet to test a C6 Z06 on there show as far as I know. I don't beleive they will be either, after there horrible review of the base c6 last time. Not unless they let a good driver on there track, but that would take away the point of the show and the testing all together. Though I do know a Z06 will hang with a gt on a certain closed road course .

As stated the C6 and the C6 Z06 both share the same suspension. There identical, just the z06 is more agressivly tuned.

The GT is just a little to portly. Needs to lose about 150-200lbs IMO. Base z06 weighs in at 3135. Hopefully Ford will come up with a replacement, i.e. there v10 show car from last year. As it looks now, probaly not.

You have to watch out who you call out on this post.. there are several of us here who have had the privelage of having these cars out on the street AND track - both the GT's and their competitors.

The GT loves the race track - they are very well behaved - especially when they are wearing Hoosiers .

That is all well and good, however, how many rich old men do you really see out at track days in their $160K car? Can't be nearly as acquainted with the racetrack as a Corvette in it's 50-something years on the planet. I'm not really arguing how good a car the GT is, that seems to be established already, just that the Corvette has always been a VERY respectable car at the track, and to down it as insignificant is retarded. The fact that it approaches the performance levels of a domestic exotic like the GT is just saying what a bargain it is. Plus the aftermarket for the Corvette is far, FAR bigger and more inclusive thant the GTs. Besides, for 160K, you could make yourself a Z06, a Viper and some money left over to build an air-conditioned garage for the two to live in. What I'm saying is this: would you rather have an exotic,Z06, and storage facility, or just an exotic? The GT just isn't as cost efficient as far as perfomance goes...
