When is the throttle hang!? I have some issues, but in my SCT software derek played with the dashpot decay rate. My biggest issue is hanging between 2k and 1k RPM's




One of the biggest contributors to throttle hang that I have found is vacuum leakage.

Oh yeah, bad TPS, improperly set TB set screw, MAF trouble with regard to a non-stock MAF tuning setting and changing injector sizes.

Just some other areas to look.

I'm positive neither mine nor Scott's car has vac leaks. I hope it will be better with a tune. It just wants to sit at 2k sometimes.

Todd, Are you running an aftermarket or larger throttlebody?

Also, if you are running the stock 2.5L pcm but using the 3L TB that came on your 3L manifold then you are basically running a larger TB than it is set with.

If you get a chance take a look at MapofTazi's Pro Racer setup and you'll see that there are about 20 things you can do to calibrate your pcm for the 3L engine such as airflow, displacement, intake manifold capacity, dashpot settings, and of course setttings for the IAC valve duty cycle at each rpm in tables.

But assuming you have no vacuum leaks and assuming you are using the stock 2.5L MAF and injectors, then I'd say it is the increase in displacement, different IAC (than the 2.5L IAC the pcm is expecting).

Yes, it is a stock SE PCM. So I'm either going to have to buck up and pay for the PRP or find one heck of a dyno tuner. I was planning on just spending about $300+ on a tune from Brenspeed. Might as well plunk down the $600 and learn how to tune myself. Well, on top of some books.

Where is the cheapest place to get the PRP that will give a good base tune?

I got mine with a starter tune from Brenspeed set for my mods and all for about $600-$650 I think. On the other hand, if you aren't going to actively continue to tune and mod your car you should be able to get a good tune with minor adjustibility with just an XCAL2 for the $300-$400 range.
