I've heard that we are taxed 3 or 4 times. There are Cooperative taxes and income taxes. We are taxed again if we invest money (capital gains taxes). If we leave our estate to our children there are estate taxes to pay. We pay sales taxes and property taxes.
It is good that our goverment lets us keep some of our money. Americans have some of the best living conditions in the world but there are a few exceptions.
A person I know died about a month ago because Medicare would not pay $3500 for a medical machine that he needed. $3500 doesn't seem like much money to save a life.
Taxes pay for a lot of things including the roads for free enterprise, police so that some laws are enforced, military so our country is free, and bureaucracy so that our government can maintain so much data (most of which they will never use). Tax money does a lot of good things.
