We put valve grinding compound on the rotor and sometimes it works. Sometimes, brakes just squeal.
I just slapped my pads on the contour, didn't turn the rotors, put anti-squeal on it or anything. And the new pads just had 'built-in' shims. They make no noise. My escort however sounds like the squealers are hitting the rotors multipied by 100.
