iwas was wandering if any one has had similar problems
this is about the fourth or fifth tranny thats been replaced in my vehicle it is a 98 svt contour has about 54k on it the first two trannys were synchros and was still under warranty so that was ok then the last one puked the spider gears on the ground and now again gears on the ground
do i not know how to drive?
is there a common mechanical defect in these trannys?
does anyone have one for sale?
any help at all would be greatly appreciated

That is way too much transaxle failure, do you race other drivers or run it at the drag strip? The differential is weak under abuse or modified engines, many CEG'ers use the $500 Quaife Limited Slip differential, much stronger.

Instead of repeating the same mistakes (hoping for a different outcome) [the definition of insanity, and stupidity, btw], why don't you invest in a Quaife or Torsen LSD and not worry about it any more.

Have your synchros fixed up, etc through Terry Haines, or the likes for a "bulletproof" tranny that can take pretty much any abuse you could give it.

I love the title of this post. It reminds me of my 1983 Chevy Impala. It was my first car and I drove that baby into the ground. I once had a parts puking experience with brakes.

Remember when the engine compartment had room to work in it?

Perhaps PM unisys12. He is a resident trans expert at this site. I would stay away from "Bone yard" tranys. Get one or buy one that is Bulletproof if you plan to keep the car.
