A k&n filter is easier to remove, with the tight area, because of the "nut" on the bottom of the filter. But even with that I got fed up with oil getting all over the manifold and subframe.

I have no issues now that my oil filter is relocated

Yes! That thing is just a KILLER to take out. It took me about a week worth of fiddling around in autoshop class. From that time, I hated 1980's Cavaliers, expecially V6 Cavies.

I simply used a hammer and prybar. One tough sucker.

Different scenario entirely unless you have SHMs. Not fun I tell you.

Just an FYI for those that havent been around that long the SHMs were the old long tube headers that were made for a short period of time. The covered up all kinds of crap and were probably a ton more trouble than they were worth.

'91 honda with the D16 (and other engines)have the filter under the intake and on the rear face of the block. This is the worst filter location I have ever seen.

There is no way you can reach the filter form above. Unless you have a lift you must crawl under the car and carefully loosen it with a catch basin under the filter.

I suspect Honda expects everyone to take their car to the dealer for servicing... talk about honda, dealer-friendly design.
