I don't think many people in the administration (Deans, Department chairs and the like) will offer much help. I had teachers where you could just hold the book in class and watch them lecture about it, with no real notes or value added information. I even failed a class undergrad despite getting A's and B's on all the tests and papers because I missed to many classes. Conversely, I also managed to get a B in a class I only went to on the first day, and for the tests (no attendance policy in that one). Don't know what else to tell you other than that it seems to be a fact of (college) life.
