I was talking to the salesman who sold me my contour about refinancing my contour and we got to talking about a new cobra he recently got. The car hasn't been through it's inspection yet so it was still in the back of the lot, thus I couldn't drive it. We did go around back and look at it though, it is ohhh sooo beautiful! Anyway I got home and started looking info up on the internet and found a lot of negative feedback on the 99 Cobras. Stuff about them not having the advertised horsepower, and ford replacing parts to fix this. Does anybody know anything about this, and if it would be worth paying about $18,000 for it? by the way, it has 30,000mi... thanks!

That is a Bargain...statch it up!
There was a problem with some of the cars not making the advertised 320hp. It was due to some problems in manufacturing the intake and mufflers by outside vendors.
ALL '99 Cobras were recalled to have a "Fix" that replaced the intake/mufflers and re-program of the ECU.
Good Luck!

For a '99, I wouldn't pay much over trade-in value of the car. $16,500-$17k tops is what I'd pay. Gimme a '98 w/ less miles any day of the week over the '99. John

I would buy that car in a second if I were you.... Charlotte, NC. For example, just recently saw an ad in AutoTrader for a '98 Cobra w/ 5k miles, immaculate condition, for $17k, negotiable. Not saying $18k is a bad price, but I wouldn't call it a 'bargain' and 'snatch it up'. John

Screw that Cobra, I took a 99' out for a test drive and have never been so disappointed. If you get it have fun getting smoked by Z28's and Trans Ams.
