Ummmmmmmm okay. Thats why we have different options. You statement about companies still in business means $@#& because many business have good products that may not work for everyone. In my experience I had a bad time with foam filters. Just cause I had a bat time doesnt mean everyone has a bad time. You like apples and I like oranges its simply as that. I just gave my experience. I'm not saying you didn't have a problem with foam filters. But you cannot conclude that all foam filters are bad because you had a bad experience with one brand. I was just looking for some more solid reasoning/proof that foam filters are inferior to gauze surface filters. After viewing the filter comparison tests and taking into account that the filter has a life time warranty, by deductive reasoning you can conclude that you have not only purchased a filter that will do its job but you have purchased a filter that will last the life time of the car (or they will replace it free of charge).

my brother got one for his taurus. didnt do anything for the butt dyno and no difference in fuel mileage, up or down.

Not sure why you even posted that link to that worthless device.... If you are trying to imply that companies make false promises every day in their advertising, then you are correct. On the other hand if you are saying that True Flow filters just appear to be a good filter due to marketing schemes, then I disagree. They actually proved that their product does what they claim....that link you posted has yet to be proven effective.

I'm not saying True Flow filters are anything. I'm just saying to take a company's claims with a grain of salt. That's all.

Both of my cars run K&N filters and both have posted Silicon levels well below the universal norms in multiple used engine oil analysis over about 45,000 total miles. For my wifes car the Si levels actually dropped when I switched to a K&N, even though it was a longer oil drain interval than was used previous (meaning that less dirt got past it over an even longer interval of time).

That foam filter he's got on his 6s has some kind of frame to it; that black webbing on the outside. I had a foam filter that had virtually no support whatsoever. It gave the same air flow as the stock panel/air box set up. The foam filter came apart and was almost sucked into my engine. I have run the same K&N filter for 3 years. I have serviced it 1 time; I know it's probably due for another. I pulled it off last weekend to mess around with my battery and cables. The intake plenum is dry as a bone (no oil from the filter) but the filter's insides still have some oil. The intake plenum was also completely clean. There wasn't a speck of anything from the MAF to the throttle body. There's nothing wrong with K&N, nor is there anything wrong with a foam filter with some kind of support.
