I checked all over. No aftermarket system. Under the passenger side behind the glove box and tucked by the factory stereo amp, the factory module is there. It has the factory connectors including the programming plug. That is the plug I jumpered and the car will chirp when it goes into programming mode.
I checked the remote against my neighbour's who has a '96 Mystique and they are the exact same remotes.
One thing I remember, thought it was a bit funny... I was coming from my daughter's high school choir concert a couple months ago and couldn't quite find my car in the dark parking lot, so I pressed the unlock button twice to turn on the interior lights and found the car. What struck me as wierd is that when I first pressed the lock botton twice by mistake, the late model Ford Explorer parked in front of my car flashed it's healights. I pressed the button twice again and the Explorer flashed it's headlights again so I know it was my remote doing it.
