a few days ago i was driving my car in a parking lot (not abusing it in any way) and I noticed a grinding/popping noise when I started turning.

then my steering wheel would pull HARD in the opposite direction that I was turning...it only did this a few times though.

then, as I was driving the car down to my mechanic, my car jolted a few times, just driving straight...no turning.

it seemed to do it more when I was going under 30mph...

as I was pulling the car into my mechanic's garage, it popped again enough to make my mechanics face look like and he said he saw my tire jolt physically

i've had various suspension/streering problems with cars in the past, and this is nothing like anything I've ever experienced...

sound familiar to anyone?

only notable thing is that I got my brakes done recently...

rotors and pads replaced...baer 13" big brake kit...

havent hit any pot holes or run over anything lately...

sounded like it was coming from the driver's side mainly

Wheel bearing or CV joint? How many miles on the Contour?

Probably a ball joint or steering rack knuckle has failed and it's good you made it to the shop without the wheels pointing outward when they came loose. Loose or broken lug nuts are possible, but the wheel tends to come off. Check for a broken spring as well.

it was really strange, when it happend the first thing I checked was the lugs and the cv joints because those things have happened to me before...

but when I got it to the mechanic, we put the car up and me and 2 mechanics there didnt notice anything major looking at it for 10 mins...really weird considering it sounded like something fell off my car haha...

so its something thats not readily visible...

the car only has 67k miles on it

i haven't checked much out on the car since the problem happened a couple of days ago...

hopefully my mechanic can help pinpoint the problem and doesnt just end up replacing random parts...

What exactly is meant by that? Broken lines? If the lines are broken, you will lose braking capability.
