i'm a college student. i dont have much money. why pay $100 for an amp that i dont really need when i could build one for $30-40?

plus it'd be an interesting thing to try and build.

im just giving ya a hard time, i think it'd be pretty sweet if u walked around with a box of a altoids hanging from ur headphones,
but honestly i'd say screw it, who honestly needs a headphone amp

lol... first of all, i never use my mp3 player when walking around. ever. i personally think thats retarded but thats a whole 'nother rant. as far as who needs a headphone amp... the quality of headphones that i am looking at require more power to perform their best than most portables can provide. and yes i can tell the difference. i have all my music in lossless formats or VBR Mp3 or 320kbps mp3. i cant even stand anything less than 192kbps anymore... i can hear how bad it sounds...

Wow, this is one of the most illogical statements I have ever run across.

you can deal with 192kbps??? ewwww.

but your right, an amp really is a good idea. these headphones simply take more electricity than your little earbugs. so you may not be able to get enough volumn outta your ipod to satisfy your rock and roll lifestyle.... plus when you have it cranked up like that, you do get some distortion [not that most people actually notice this].

theres no absolute need to have an amp but if you can afford to spend a few extra bucks it really is worth it

yes... I am a cougar owner trolling on your board.
