Thanks to all my peeps who responded.

Okay, so it sounds like I need the break fluid, but nobody has any other ideas about the high speed CE?

Coors, I get no funky smell, and the CAT has gone through the recall way back when.

My first thought was that is was an O2 sensor since it was happening more at higher altitudes, but it happens in the valley to, so there goes that idea. Oh well, I guess I'll just learn to love it!!

It could still be an O2 sensor -- when mine were getting marginal on my SHO they would only light up at higher altitudes, and even then it was pretty inconsistent. But I pulled the code and it looked like it was pointing to the O2 sensors [one bank lean, blah blah blah], replaced them and haven't seen it since.

I'd offer to pull the code for you if I were closer [got my dad's cool OBD-2 scanner].

I'm off to the dealership today to see if they can do something about this ridiculous 2000 SVT stutter problem [-1 degree total spark timing just doesn't seem right].

My check engine light came on Sunday and hasn't gone away since. I checked all fluids, listened for leaks or strange noises but nothing. The engine runs fine. My buddy said I should change the O2 sensor even if that is not the prob because of my mileage (maintenance I guess). But no dough so I can't do that just yet.

I'll bring my laptop and scanner if you come on thursday to in-n-out. we can pull the code.

Thanks guys. I won't be there Thursday (not by choice). I'd be willing to bet it's the O2 though now that you have all chimed in on it. Maybe I'll ask the dealer to take a look when I take my car in for the fan switch recall.
