Then look down the bottom to see if it says "ASPI is installed and working properly". 2)This can become corrupt and need to be reinstalled. ForceASPI Since you recently did a Windows reinstall you may want to run this. It won't hurt anything. 3)You also will want to remove one of the burning programs because they don't always play nice with each other.
4)One other thing you might want to check is if the cooling fan in you external enclosure is working. It could be heat related.
5)P.S. Those silver coasters are worthless, they have a hole in the middle.
1 & 2)done. the nero aspi is installed and working correctly but the system aspi says it is not installed even after i tried the force aspi. i double clicked the instaspi file and it said it installed and i need to reboot. did that and verified with nero and the verification program in your link but both still said not installed.
3)uninstalling sonic since nero is much more helpful in troubleshooting so far as i can tell.
4)cooling fan is on and working. i can hear it spinning.
5)but they make great little frisbees
just for kicks i updated the firmware on my liteon ldw-401s and according to the nero info tool i now have the ability to read and write dual layer dvd's, albeit at a ssllllloooooowwww speed, whereas i did not before. very cool. i am going to try again later tonight and i will post the results tomorrow.
