I know at first there was a big controversy over wether(sp?) these cars actually put down the horsepower that nissan said they did. But it looks like they're putting down some pretty decent numbers now, just was on the nissan performance magazine sight and they dyno-ed one at stock and then after a header install. It got some decent gains, it looks light that engine has a lot of potential. Now if only the transmission and linkage were up to the job. I know for 23 g's canadian (same price as mazda mp5), you can't much more bang for your buck

I haven't, but a budy of mine saw/raced one with an exhaust and said it sounded like crap and ran pretty slow...I have yet to see one on the road.

The SE-R Spec-V is a pretty sweet ride. I went and checked them out at the dealership just to see one up close. I liked the prototype I saw at the Dallas Auto Show in 2001 a little better. It was blue with matching seats and gauges...I think they have all red gauges no matter what the color of the car. But they do have some nice options.

Well, I personally didn't think much of the Spec-V as a car to live with every day. The ride is absolutely punishing, and the handling doesn't benefit enough to make it worth it. The car is quick, but the low redline forces overly frequent shifting than what you should be able to get away with in a large displacement engine (for the car's size and weight.)

The interior is garish, and suffers from the Sentra's general lack of class. The rear seat is a cheap thing which doesn't fold unless you buy the overpriced Audio Fanatic package. Then the 60% side folds only.

The car is good by the bullet points, but the whole is less than the sum of its parts.

ive read a couple magazine comparo's on the svt focus, everyone seems to love it. also read one on se-r vs svt, svt won - barely. personally, i dont care for the nissans interior, or the svt's exterior.. the focus' looks are starting to grow on me though.

I was at the bookstore, and read a couple of reviews of the SVT Focus, and the only real weakness the car has is some lack of power,,,They basically say the car handles too good, and its not as fan to toss around,,It needs more power to match the handling. They also mentioned that a turbo version is in the works..But,,,If i could fit my tennis teaching gear in a Mini S,..I am not sure which I would take,,,,

I think I remember reading basically the same thing back in 95, 96....about a Contour!!

98.5 SE Sport badgeless, MTX, KKM, SVT exhaust with resonator intact.
1985 Z51 Vette with many mods. Only used when the Tour appears to be outclassed.

That is true,,,I guess reality comes out only after a year or two of cars circulating the streets and then the reliablity and other issues come to mind...If I test drove a contour SE without any knowledge or preconceptions, I would love it...Same can be said for the SVT Focus,,,
