I'm taking my 98.5 SVT in for recommended 45,000-mile service next week. (I'm at 51,000 miles, but change the oil regularly and generally treat my car pretty well.)

Anyway, in addition to the things that get done per the maintenance schedule at 45,000 miles, I am also getting the coolant flushed & filled.

My question is thus: is there any chance that getting the coolant flushed & filled will hasten the demise of my water pump which, as far as I know, is still the original part?

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Many thanks.

Save yourself the hassle and have it replaced while you're doing the service with a metal impeller style pump.

It will not hurt to change the coolant. If anything it may help.
