Sorry, I should have quoted your asking what the point of the reverb unit was. I too am a musician but many times specific equipment used for performing isn't the same as that used for listening. In this case the reverb is used to simulate a live environment where the type you are refering to is an effect which wouldn't be needed to simulate a live situation because you are already doing that.
