I was going through some stuff at my parent's new house (well my Grandpa's old house), and I found an old reverb unit for a 1965/66 Ford (didn't say which model). This is brand new in the box. It even still has the tag connected to the shipping clip that you have remove to use. All the wiring is still in the box and in the original plastic wrapping, as well as instructions. I don't expect this to be worth much. But it was an option in earlier model Fords so not a lot have these, so I thought maybe someone has some knowledge on it. There aren't really any on ebay that I could find like this. I searched google and all I found were original factory option prices. It was about a thirty dollar option in 1966. Anyone

That could be worth a ton! Look for it on eBay. If you can't find it don't worry...it could be that rare!

might i ask what the point of a reverb unit would be?

Yeah, I'm wondering what it is too. Is it a tube/spring reverb unit for the car stereo? Early signal processing I guess.  It can't be all that small...heck a Fender reverb unit from that era is rather big...albeit mostly empty cabinet, but the tubes and such took up some space.

Find an old Ford appraiser and see if they have any info about it.

Reverb made by ford? Didn't know they were in the time-based effects business.

Simulated stereo by delaying the signal slightly between two speakers. Some people found the effect to be pleasing.

I'm pretty sure I can do that on my HU (Pioneer 7600MP) to simulate that you're sitting directly center of the speakers.

Usually a reverb is used to simulate a live or concert hall listening experience where sound waves bounce off of walls - that sort of thing. There was probably a rear mounted speaker hooked up to it. Mid to late 60's Chevys had a center speaker in the rear seat facing forward for this application.

thanks, but being a musician, i am quite familiar with what reverb is, i was merely inquiring about the point of its use in a car...
I imagine that it cane be a spring reverb since every guitar amp that i've seen with spring reverb makes awful sounds when moved when on...
