Did it just hit you or try to claw your eyes out? If it tried to claw your eyes out then it's probably a female in heat, not neccessarily rabid.

Tennis racket works! I actually caught one and kept him alive. Tennis racket and a pot. He clung onto the racket and then I covered him over with the pot. This was in the dorms...I prob could've gotten tail because to the chick my actions were so heroic! Bats are cool, catch and release!

We've had bats at my parents cabin. My dad has used a broom to knock them down. I think the blanket is a good idea.

Are you serious?
Bats absolutely hate dryer sheets. Stuff some in the corners of the room and in dark places where rthey might hang out and around your window sills. That will drive them away.
If they are flying, a tennis racket will take them out real quick.

I've used a broom, a scrap piece of wood, a roll of wrapping paper, and a pillow followed by a stomping action with my foot to kill various bats in the house. One of them woke me up by grazing my face with something (probalby it's wing). I have taken out at least 7 in the last 6 years. I'm quite good now...the wrapping paper was done with one swing.
