Have a reef aquarium and been to the Great Barrier Reef. The trip was amazing and spurred the interest in the aquarium.

a hot tub? Your kidding right? Your fat ass is gonna need an olympic size pool with 105 degree water to beable to fit!

har har. actually, the only problem i'd have with a hot tub is certain body parts floating to the top...

Cool...you got any pics? I love looking at other reefs.

Actually, I'm getting ready to go through the scuba certification. My wife and I are looking to check the sites in the lower Caribbean. As for the Great Barrier...some day, I'm sure.

Australia rocked. I hope to return with my wife one day, but it will never beat the trip that I was able to take.

great setup mang!!

[only critisism is your deep sand bed looks a tad bit shallow].

anyways, I've been running my reef for over 5 years now. I had a system crash about 2 years ago from an extended power-outage... never got around to restocking the tank. So its bare right now [but I just cant bring myself to breaking it down].

this is what it looked like in its hayday

and heres a drop dead amazing night shot

Wow, nice pic of the frogspawn and hammer, thanks for posting. Great reef too, seems there are more of us here than I thought.

As for the sand bed, it's actually over 4" deep, the panel comes up some on it. I'd go deeper, but I'm a little concerned that when I get the Tunze Streams that the sand will move around and kick up some.

thanks, you should've seen the mother colony they came from [had to have been 3 feet in diameter]... that was the smallest chunk he would break off for me.

I've never had much problem with sand shifting [other than a damsel that learned how to forrage through my sand bed]

sand shifting

kinda a big problem when you have a heavy rock pile that isnt secured.

if anyone else is curious in reading a little writeup on the history of my tank [full disclosure of all my mistakes]

[note some of the image thumbnails have "disappeared" over time, but the full sized images are still there if you click on them]

my reef history
