very nice!!

as for the spending money on a hobby thing... look at it this way...

it's easier than finding midget hookers who are willing to play the accordian.

You spend a ton of time managing the system. It's a closed, dependant ecosystem. Routine water changes (no idea what a 25# bag of Reef Crystals or Instant Ocean goes for these days) are a pita. Trickle filter, protien skimmer, ozone and lights all add to the cost. It's a highly dedicated hobby. Also a very rewarding one.

I had an agressive tank (60G) when I first got married. Blue Spot Grouper, Lion Fish, snow Flake Eel, etc. We loved it but travel and then a move put into storage. Never revived it.

For relaxation, nothing beat it. Martin Moes book is your bible.

Very nice system! Do you have redundant power supply? It's a concern in Michigan - Ilost a whole tank once from a three day outage.

As stated above...it is a closed loop system. Their are holes drilled in the display tank that overflow the water to the sump below it. The pump shoots the water back up. If you are serious about this, I would look into www.reefcentral.com . It's a website that has tons of info and sections provided for people just starting out.

I'll state this, it's easier than you think...but if you try to do too much too fast, you'll be out of the hobby.

Thanks...I have a UPS to run a couple pumps and some power supply I can run from my cars if I get in a real jam. I am looking to get a generator one of these days.

Thats pretty sweet, Im not huge into fish so I would have done what you did with the wall, but made that a bar area for entertaining. The cut through really opens up the room!
