You tell me... About a grand of this was adding on to my house (a room s dedicated to do nothing but hold the aquarium ), but the rest of the investment is lies in the equipment. First off, I converted this... To this... Close up... Behind the scene... You can see everything that I went through on a website I just created by clicking here. So, worth it or not? Gotta admit, if my Contour had not been so reliable over the past 6 years, I don't think I could have done it.

Nice! Hobby you say? Addiction me thinks. Can't go wrong in improving the home. Good work.

The way I see it, if this is something you truly enjoy then it's totally worth it. Hobbies can be a great way to escape the stresses of everyday life, no matter how much they cost.

I love salt water tanks...but looking at that setup, I'm scared of them too. I recently went to this guys house and he just had one put in. He had the filter located right under the tank, ant it was WAY too loud. I mean, you couldn't even watch tv in the same room. That and the fish are wicked expensive. Hell, everythings expensive. He had paid about a grand for some living coral...several hundred for each fish, and even $200 for this little flower thing that won't even open cause the little fish keep picking at it!! I'd hate to buy a $500 fish and have it die on me in a week.

250watt 10K MH

20gallon custom refugium under the tank

1 longnose hawk
1 weird arse blenny
bazillion blue leg hermits
a lot of scarlett hermits
various weird snails as well as atreas and turbos

My daughter has a 5 gallon tank from Walmart with three goldfish, but I don't have any pics. Spending money on what makes you happy is always worth it.

Thanks for the compliments
Currently Im running 660W VHO with a 110W morning NO actinic. I'm planning on going 3x250W 10K Metal Halides once I get another grand in the bank.
I like the softie tank setup you had, sorry you got out of the hobby. As for aptasias...I had one, but was able to get rid of it quickly. As for any more coming in on new rock, I got one of these to take care of it for me...

so does that pump cycle the new salt water in? What do you have to do to keep that thing running? I ask because I think salt water tanks are super cool but I don't know if I have time to run one. I want to get a feel for the work involved.
