I might take the bus more. That's about it.
I look at it this way: say gas goes up 10 cents/litre (all figures Cdn$). The tank is 50 litres. That's $5 per tank. Given that I don't drive all that much, it works out to $15/month. I think I can swing that.
Even then, with my late father's Country Squire (351 carbueted, baby!), I am looking at $7.20 per tank difference. Add another $15 per month, if I am generous as to how much I would drive the wagon.
I don't want to make the same mistake a neigbour did. He sold his Bronco because of the price of gas, and he loved that vehicle. Got $5000 for it. Then he bought a newer Explorer. For the price difference, he could have bought a LOT of gas.
Yes, I get sticker shock at the gas price, same as everyone else. But I won't spend $5000 to feel better about the price I pay for gas.
