Well i picked up my New 98 Svt Contour.I got the thing for $400 bux and now its time to fix what is wrong with it. Well I got it start and seem the white ploom of steam/ smoke out the tail pipes. I then checked the oil to see a smirky look to it. Im wondering how hard it is to change the head gaskets on this thing. I have done work on 302 mustang motors and replaced the Svt Cobra motor on my mustang.I have never worked on something like this. Can anyone point me in the right direction on what is need and maybe some direction on how to. I am pretty mechanically able to do it. Thanks for the help Heres a pic of it.

Might be better to pull the engine. The job will be easier in the long run. It doesn't look like fun to time the cams with the engine installed. You can also replace the clutch, check and fix any oil leaks while the engines out.

thanks for the website, I guess I may just remove the whole motor.. Not sure how to yet.. But if I can pull the engine and tranny out of my Cobra then I can do it on a Contour.

Welcome . You may also want to consider getting a Ford CD manual from Todd. Send a PM to him.
