Riiight. I know many ex-soldiers (kind of goes with having parents from the vietnam era) who served and deserve none of my respect for actions they have taken in and out of uniform. On the other hand, there are quite a few people who served that demand my respect based on their actions. All I am saying is it takes more than a uniform to earn it. 5 classmates of mine joined the marines for 1 reason, they had no other options and that goes for awful lot of enlistees. The uniform can be a piece of the puzzle, but its the actions in an out of it that matter.

One more thing....if I had watched someone pistol whip another person and I could od something about it.....I would. The person with the gun drawn first IS the bad guy. I do not care if the Cousin was carrying legally or not (it was a legal handgun, he just did not have CCW rights) he quite possibly saved alot more people. I mean come on...Proof is pistol whipping someone then he shoots this person in front of a CROUD...WTF do you think he is going ot do next? I say he was going to take out more innocents and flee.....or kill himself (doubtful). I have enough training to know in that situation...the threat (Proof) needed to be eliminated and he was. Sorry cuz did not have his ccw....but he did the right thing. I know all too well that sometimes doing the right thing will gain you poor results...butyou still have to do it.
