I wish I could kick Bush out of office for not securing the border.
the person you want to blame is clinton.
My hate knows no party lines. I love America, that's it. I think a lot of the silent patriots in the land are going to start vocalizing their disdain for the current president if he doesn't get his rudder back in the water. If you don't protect our borders, culture, and language, you shouldn't be counted as a patriot.
I wish there was a third political party. Then I'd be excited to vote.

I think sigma has realy hit alot of nails on the head. A. Most illigals would glady take a few steps to be a legal citizen, if it was easer and cheaper. Its in there best intrest, they have access to all of us social services, instead of having to try and live "under the radar" B. Illigals are not gonna leave if we "stop sending them checks". As long as they can find work, have access to healthy food, and a reasonably low crime enviornment to raise there kids, there gonna stay. For all im concerend Mexico is Hell to make a living in, if you werent born into its corrupt government. C. Illigals are not criminals by nature. Poverty, and Being uneducated leads to crime. D. living in San diego 20 of my 26 years of life(living in LA the first 6) I can say from first hand experience, Mexicans, are The hardest work people i have ever met. 99% come here because thats what they want to do, WORK. To say mexicans are lazy is just plain racist. And for whats is worth most of Asia laughs at our work week. With all that said i too agree illigal imigration is prob. one of the biggest prob. we need to deal with as a nation, The war in Iraq is prob. topping the list.(at least in my opinion) The problem is politicians dont like rocking the boat, and to stand firm against illigal imigration means a whole lot of lost votes. I def. agree we need to at bare minimum inforce are current laws. Making it easer and cheaper to become a citizen would help, but i think the biggest prob. with illigal imigration is the sheer over population its causing(esp. on the bordering states/cities) Making it easer to come into the country does nothing to solve the problem, in fact it only makes it worse. I def. think we should force anyone that wants to become a citizen to learn how to speak english. Wether they speak it at home, or in there comunities, is there business. But if they want to go to the dmv, to try and regester there cars, they need to learn the language. With all this said, 90% of the americans crying about illegal imigration would be running there a$$'s off to Canada if America was as bad as place to live in as mexico. Any respectable human being is gonna try and make a better life for themselves and more importantly there kids. If that means coming into a country that politicly speaking is waiting with arms wide open, consider me on the bus.

Does the author have a source for this assertion? He cites a poll for the other statement, but not this one.
Not that I necessarily disagree with the "not very hard-working" part, at least as it pertains to taking salary, benefits, and work hours for granted.
And FWIW liberals aren't the only group opposed to tightened immigration... business owners that depend on cheap labor (aka Republicans) are against it as well.

he cites a Zogby poll for the racist comment.
And I agree with your last comment, its not a liberal/conservative/republican/democrat division, they all don't seem to want it as the American people do...will they listen to 'us'? Probably not.

You're talking about becoming a citizen. How many of the illegals are interested in doing that now that they're here?
Let's get back to why they are here. Money. They can come here & earn their keep with a work visa. Much easier to come by than you think & often sponsored by agro business. It would not be terribly difficult for them to be here legally AND earn the money they need AND work toward becoming a citizen. They simply choose not to go through the effort - Most likely because of the curruption south of the border, not because of obstacles set up by the US.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.
