Hello Folks, I am interested in getting my 96 Zetec converted to a 3.0l. I am willing to travel to Gainsville, VA to have it done. Can anyone provide the name of REPUTABLE shops in the Northern VA, DC-metro area? MANY thanks, shamun

Sounds like you're bringing it to my house!
I guess I'm a reputable shop...
You'll need a V6 subframe, wiring harness, and ECU, then a PATS re-flash after the fact...

Is the Zetec MTX not a little different than the Duratec MTX? Atleast the bellhousing?

Even if you could swap the bellhousings, it still wouldn't work ... the I4 MTX-75 has a shorter input shaft than the V6 version. My advice ... sell the car and buy a V6 instead ... you will have a massive headache of a time with the wiring harness conversion.

With all of the money to convert to a 3L, why not just build a wicked zetec and boost the s$#* out of it?

Yep. A lot more parts to build it then a V6. Good luck swapping over all the needed parts for that swap.

I concur. Seems like with the Fuckus out there lots more aftermarket support for the lil 4 popper.

You can mod the hell out of the Zetec, but I'm yet to see any Zetec Contours in the 13's yet. With the exception of Demon, there's a few of us with N/A 3L's that, with a little more work, could probably hit 13's as well. I'd sell the car and buy a V6 to start with.

I don't disagree. IMO, the Zetec aftermarket will long survive and dominate the 2.5L/3.0L aftermarket because of the Focus. Additionally, the 4 banger contours out there belong, typically, to grandma and grandpa or college kids who could careless....TurboTom's setup would be great in this car..just no one with the $$$ to do it.
