Honda Fit official site I first checked this car out in one of my car mags and thought it was pretty cool for a sub-compact, but upon further reading they (the car mag) really talked about its handling and "Acura like dash layout". The cars lines are pretty cool and well proportioned IMO. In addition to this, its a hair over $15K for the sport package and 5 spd. Its only got 109 hp and gets 31/38, but I just don't know why it really stands out to me I checked out the other new sub-compacts (Toyota Yaris and Nissan Versa) and its not even close IMO, this car is going to be flying out of dealerships as soon as they come in, especially with gas costing upwards $3.00+. So I ask you, am I alone here or what BTW, theres some factory aftermarket parts already for it as you can see in the pics and it would be pretty cheap to mod out to handle even better, something to think about it!

I believe there is already a waiting list.
I like this idea, this country needs more good smaller cars and less behemoths.

Why wouldn't said consumer buy a Civic instead? They are going after the Xa market? This car is nothing more than another 5dr hatch in the already cluttered market. It offers nothing innovative and at $15K there is a lot of competition. The Yaris is supposed to be a bargain basement $12K Econo-Box. This thing is small, like 20" shorter than the current Civic I don't think they'd brag about its handling if it wasn't there and they even went as far to say this about the 109 hp "thats why theres any aftermarket". Imagine a couple bolt ons and the car gets kicked up to about 150 hp, the return of the true "pocket rocket" With a little bit of imagination, you can set this thing up pretty good. It will never be a race car, but then again, you can always build the hell out of the suspension and brakes, right

There's quite a few small guys coming out, which I think is exciting! Now if only they could put like 200 hp into one..... Anyhow, the Fit was on our campus as part of an early promotional campaign, and it's pretty cool! ....in a dorky way. Honda let the students try to cram in as many people as possible... I think the total was 11, including the trunk space.
Anyhow, it'd be cool to cruise around in one of these cheap subcompacts, and spare the CSVT for a weekend toy.

I'm liking this small-tall-car trend as well. If only there had been any halfway decent ones in my price range when I was shopping.

But the Civic gets the same MPG, offers more room, and is a great car that can be had near $15K. It's not like the Xa's are flying off lots and they are small! Aveo anyone?
Americans have never wanted sub-compacts, perhaps if this contraption got 50mpg then yes, but many a car gets 35mpg and we all know that when you are competing for lane space with Suburbans and pickup trucks nobody wants to be in a sub-compact.
