I also have a Ruger 10/22 and it's probably the best gun I've ever shot. I've never had a problem with it jamming and theres lots of add-ons for it. I'd definetly look into a Ruger, You won't be sorry.

That was me. Had no problems with mine & I've owned it for almost 30 years now. The sights do take some getting used to, but once I mastered that, I could do very well with it. The thing I liked most; it would take some serious abuse when on a canoe trip in the wilderness of northern Maine & still function just fine. Relatively few parts to jam up, coated with some kind of plastic paint so it will never rust, & best of all - IT FLOATS! It was built as a survival weapon - pack it away & take it out only if you NEED it (Gotta take your time lining up the goofy sights though). Seems to fit that bill adequately, though there are certainly better guns out there.

My brother also owned a Ruger 10/22, and I have to say I liked that gun much better, although you HAD to carry it. You couldn't pack it away like I could the AR7. Ruger 10/22 had the cool rotary clip, very accurate, reliable. I never thought about it except when we would go shooting or sup'm, so I've never explored the aftermarket for it. Frankly, I'm surprised there is such a great abundance of options for it.

I'm outa touch when it comes to rimfires, I guess.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.
