OK folks - here goes:
I am considering a rimfire rifle (yes I am aware I was considering a rimfire pistol a week or so ago - but for the same price I can get a rifle . . .)
I think it would be cool if we posted pics of rimfires and got some more of the creative juices flowing.

Plinking? Ruger 10/22 in .22 LR. Nothing else comes close. I can get awesome groups at 50 yds with $10/550rd Wal-Mart ammo. Plus, you can get 50rd clips and power speed-loaders now that the AWB has sunset, so you don't kill your fingers reloading. There are a whole bunch of barrels/stocks/finishes to choose from now, too.
Challenge: can you get through 550 rds in one afternoon, and can you resists the huge, cheap aftermarket for the gun? So far I've done both.

Concur. I had a basic 10/22, no mods, not even a decent scope, and it shot beautifully. Can't imagine how nice it would have done with some gunsmithing.

Ruger 10/22. Period.
There are more stocks, barrels, actions and parts for that rifle than just about any other and there's not a gunsmith worth their salt that hasn't "massaged" a slew of them while practicing his or her trade.
Customization on that rifle comes fairly cheap and reliability is beyond compare. I've seen some that are more works of art than "gun", so it's the Honda Civic of gun modding (in a good way).
Google for the gun and you should get pages of custom 10/22s for your viewing pleasure.

I had fun with this, but it took a while to get used to the sights. There is a scope mount accessory & other things available for it. AR7 is kinda cool actually:
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Ive totally seen and used 10/22's - 4 out of 5 dentists recommend them.
I am currently looking at buying a Rhineland Arms R22 - or a Walther G22. If I get the R22 ill prob put a Mueller 8.5-25x40 scope on it and blast away.

The G22 is a cool weapon, but I've never shot one. Personally, I'd rather have a target weapon hat the tactical look/feel. You can mod a 10/22 to be just sick for G22 money.
It's personal taste, of course. I love accuracy. The 10/22 gives you more accuracy for your money. But, I have a Remington 700 BDL varmint barrely .223, and my friend has a Bushmaster AR-15. Neither of use would have it any other way. If you're an AR-15 guy, then get the G22. You'll certainly have a more unique weapon than ANOTHER modded 10/22.

I like the CETME look of the R22, but man - all that moola for a 22?
