This same thing is happening to my old '96 SE. My father drives it as a daily driver, and I witnessed the clicking first hand. He is also having his interior lights flicker with the rpm of the engine, and I observed a low volume whine coming from the alternator. This leads me to believe the alternator is causing all of these issues. He described it as a clicking sound coming from under the glove box. And every once in a while the car won't start. This will be the third alternator in three years. Other than this the car runs great. Maybe someone with a better technical understanding can fill us in.
