WOW I have never hear of that before. You must have put really thick tape for the guages to hit the needle.

You misunderstood what I was saying. I'm saying HE did not press down or stick them down enough. Not that it shouldn't be installed that way.

If you don't use adhesive they will lift up in areas and hit the needle.

HE is a SHE FYI and I did use very thin double sided stick tape from 3M

I can't wait for work to get out today so I can try working on these again..

As far as the tapping into the wires can someone physically confirm which they tapped into? (IE. red with blue stripe, white with purple stripe? please?)

I bought the 6 color inverter.. from what I saw last night before we clipped the tapped wires they looked pretty sweet.

Are you kidding me...

Apparently you are unaware of the fact that double sided tape works great. I've had mine installed for over a year with not one problem. Also MANY others have used this method and were extremely successful.

You can't have the gauges lay any flatter than w/ using spray adhesive. Secondly it IS removeable. It's not super glue, its a tacky spray.

Sure you can remove them, but have fun cleaning it off of the stock gauges. There is no reason that anyone needs to be using any spray to install these gauges, if you feel like you need it, you are doing something wrong.

Did you do the foglight mod?

So much better? It's the same as far as laying flat goes. No advantage using spray adhesive.

And you can actually remove the gauges if you would like.

I'd like to see you try and show me a single bump on my gauges by using double sided tape. I've installed gauges on my car twice and on 4 other cars the same way. This is not like i'm taking single sided and looping it around for a ghetto double sided. Double sided tape is way too thin to ever show any bumps.

And ok, spray might be fine. I'd just rather not have to peel away at my gauges. Easy install and removal with tape. I can just roll the tape off by running my finger across it. Just my preference I guess.

nope.. only electrical mods I ever did was to disconnect the inside rear 3rd brake light - install a Kenwood HU w/Sirius system and add a DRL relay.

Are you serious? Yea double sided tape works great, so great that I could search and pull up multiple posts in 1 minute of searching where people say that using double sided tape make the needles stick and/or the gauges peel up on the edges. There has obviously been a problem w/ it. Find me one post where someone complained about using the spray . In fact go to the last indiglo group buy and see how many people went w/ spray adhesive.

Secondly I have removed my Indiglo's from my stock gauges after having them on for 6 months USING SPRAY ADHESIVE....and it came RIGHT off. There was virtually NO residue. And the only hint of residue was taken of in seconds w/ goo gone.

You have not even used the spray yet your saying its a bad idea. Further more there are no instances where anyone has complained or had negative results using it.

Anything else?

I would suggest you do the foglight mod, and then wire them the way I explained. If you run with your foglights on all the time this is the way to go. That way when the sun is setting and you have the foglights and running lights on, the indiglows will be on.

I dont know, many people just tap into the headlight wires themselves, but if you are a foglight fan then this is the way to go.

teamSVTour - Double sided tape works just as good as spray. Double sided tape is cleaner then spray...

I assume you are referring to this how-to? http://www.contour.org/mods/mods.php?s=howto&displayid=7

and then just tap the gauge wires into the same wires as the mod? I am a foglight girl

Yes, do this mod. That way you will be familiar with the wires down there.

Yup, all you should need to do is, tap the positive wire from the gauges into "B" and tap the negative wire from the gauges into "C." I'm almost positive this is how I did it, but like I said, it was about a year ago.

A. Orange/Black - ALWAYS +12 volts
B. Orange/Yellow - +12 when fog lights are ON
C. Black/Red - GROUND when fog light switch is turned on
D. Orange - +12 when headlights are ON
