I'm sure she's just having her monthly visitor. Having man in the way; unfortunately she's just gonna unleash her wrath, like most women do. That may explain her hot flashes (global warming), violent mood changes (weather/natural disasters), and confusion with us men (we never know what they're thinking, so we debate on this amongst our selves for ages). I'm sure when she's done her damage, she'll be back to normal, and we can live in peace with her until the next time.
yeah, bad analogy.

Albeit we are in the tail end of the last one, look at when the dinosaurs lived...the WHOLE PLANET was a tropical place, that is why in SIBERIA they have found frozen remnants of tropical plants. So if the polar caps are indeed melting (which I am sure they are) then it is supposed to happen, I guess we might be accelrating this phenomenon a bit though. But all in all this is what our planet does, it goes through cycles. Big freakin deal, just don't by beachfront....duh.
P.S. Read "A Short History of Nearly Everything" by Bill Bryson.
The ebook is on limewire...but you didn't hear it from me
close, but not quite right. The earth goes threw a warm spell then gets hit by an ice age. The warm spells normally last for around 10000 years and the ice ages last for 100000(?). We are at the tail end of the warm spell. Look at a graph of the planets average temps and one will see that when the Pangea was around it was VERY warm because of the currents of the oceans and all that good stuff. so when the continents started to drift it altered the currents and thus the the climate changed. This is all just the earths normal cycle of heating up and cooling off. Earth heats up, glacial ice melts and makes the seawater not as salty and that changes the current. With out the current we get nice hurricanes and droughts in certain areas and floods in others. To think that humans are so powerful that we can change the earth so much is complete and utter ignorance and arrogence. This is a natural cycle of the earth folks, data proves it, the media wants a story.
Dude.....read a book, we JUST CAME OUT OF AN ICE AGE (just came out being a relative term). If we were just comming out of a "warming trend" then WHY IS THE EARTH WARMING UP!?!? Think about it.
Instead of reading a book why don't you go read some scientific journals. I just explained why we are out of the warming trend. The last ice age ended 10,000 years ago, right? The evidence of the temp cycles of the past indiacte we have a warm period of 10,000 years followed by an ice age. What causes the ice age? The melting of the glaciers disrupts the oceans currents which causes the plant to cool down!!!! And there is new evidence that supports the theory that the last ice age was in full effect 10 years after the first signs that it started.

While you may have a good point, that's not what I'm talking about.
I mean for example, that if we really address pollution in one area, we probalby exacerbate hunger, or disease, or any number of environmental maladies in another. It's not that people are greedy. It's that the best intentions have unintended consequences.
Greed is a whole different discussion. Yes, greed plays a part.
