So what happened to the ozone holes?
So what happened to the impending ice age & global cooling from the 70's that man was responsible for?
Ignorance, indeed. Mother nature is far less fragile than you would imagine. She has proved it time & again throughout the ages absorbing both man-made & natural catastophies. The 'scientists' responsible for drawing these conclusions need to come out & smell the coffee, then take a closer look at what mother nature is capable of.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

There are many competing environmental and other concerns. It is not better to err, period.
Spending resources on one problem means resources are taken away from another. Furthermore, there are always consequences, both positive and negative, to every decision.
For example, the big fight in Kansas now is over wind power. Wind power sounds like a great thing, right, especially in Kansas? Only trouble is that they garbage up the looks of one of the last remainging tallgrass prairie regions, which is also considered a national treasure.
Some decisions have more serious consequences. It's important to get it right, and not just react carelessly to every new data point.

So, college professors are always right.
If it's in TIME, it must be true.
I don't think there is much dispute that we are in a warming trend. The dispute centers around whether the trend is a) man-induced and b) to continue unabated, culminating in an apocolyptic scenario.
Many scientists (and college professors) are in dispute about these points. Many of the conclusions of the doomsayers are based on debatable assumptions.

Did you read anything I said!? I didn't buy into it when he first brought it up in class. I thought he was just pushing his own personal beliefs on us, but I am going to listen to a professor with a doctorate and TIME magazine over some guy in KS!
What happened to the holes in the Ozone...guess what hypotheses change! It seems that the ice caps melting have become more of an issue than the holes in the Ozone.

Yes, those generalizing professors into stupidity is the correct thing to do. Nobody should listen to them. SKOOL IS FUZ IDJOTS !
Obviously we're all in awe of your genius. A mind that is so productive and intelligent that it affords you a Contour SE.
If only I had your mind, I could live the lifestyle, the respect, the glory and the fame of driving a Contour SE ! Alas, if I did my body would be crushed under the monumentally profound weight of your omnipotent genious.

Time flip-flops on this issue. Professors and scientists are still engaged in healthy scientific debate.
The ignorance you display is in thinking that "some guy in Kansas" has nothing to add to the discussion, and can't possibly have more wisdom and intelligence than a journalist for a major magazine.
Remember the "30 Nobel Laureates agree" ploy? Wow! They are Nobel Laureates! They must certainly know more than some KS hayseed! Only trouble is, none of them earned their Nobel honors in anything to do with climatic science (and most had nothing to do with science, period.)
Do not place too much trust in titles or position, and do not consider Time to be a serious source of scientific information.

More than TIME...I listened to Dr. Sibley. He believes in debate, but his opinion towards the issue was of course biased. After my own research I sided with him. The TIME article was good tho...

if you've done actual research on the topic (aside from listening to your prof and reading magazines) i'd love to see it. either post it up, or cram the ignorance comment up your cramhole.

Mother Nature? Cycle? Man getting in the way? I'm sure she's just having her monthly visitor. Having man in the way; unfortunately she's just gonna unleash her wrath, like most women do. That may explain her hot flashes (global warming), violent mood changes (weather/natural disasters), and confusion with us men (we never know what they're thinking, so we debate on this amongst our selves for ages). I'm sure when she's done her damage, she'll be back to normal, and we can live in peace with her until the next time. yeah, bad analogy.
