I can fill you in on a bit more of the WMU stuff... My advertising degree consisted of only a handful of "specialized" classes (Media Planning, Copywriting) that were part of the general marketing curriculum, but they were required for the A&P degree. It's basically just a specialized marketing degree.

I'd recommend getting a Public Relations degree and either double major/minor in Journalism or Marketing. A PR degree will open a TON of doors that a Marketing degree on its own will not. I'm sitting on an Advertising & Promotion major with a double minor in Business and Sociology... trust me, I wish I'd have gone in the PR direction.
