I've got a minor in Marketing. Could easily get another degree in it with not much more work. But, I'm gonna have to side with Fmr12b a little on this one. Marketing degrees aren't in high demand unless you've got a Master. Most everyone I know who got one (and I know more than a few since my degree plan (Logistics) was in the same department) is either unemployed and forced to continue work on a graduate degree or, at best, a manager of some small retail establishment like a Starbucks.

Or working for Enterprise rent a car....

Advertising is an offshoot of the Journalism department so if that is what interests you you may want to look into that area. Creative writing, print media, and graphic design all being part of it.

The Enterprise thing had me busting out laughing. I'm not sure why.

I totally forgot about them, but yes, I'd say at least 1/4 of those I know with Marketing degrees went to work for Enterprise for at least some period of time. Their campus recruiting teams hype the living [censored] out of that company.

And, totally agree on the advertising thing. So many people I knew were majoring in marketing so that they could do advertising stuff, and I always gave them a weird look and told them they were in the wrong place. The Journalism school had an advertising program, the Art school had a graphic design for media program, but the marketing department wasn't going to prep you much for that.

You might also consider Public Relations if you like a more hands-on type of marketing. A number of my friends with marketing degrees see what my wife does in public relations and they're like "that's what I wanted to do".
