The daring exterior styling was deemed too weird or appliancelike by some, the no-nonsense interior just plain boring, and the performance was admirable, but not earth-shattering. Sure, there's that low price, but there's also a lack of content. Its warranty is good, and it's always nice to know there's roadside assistance for the three-year/36,000-mile period, but the Hyundai Sonata's got the Fusion beat there. So, where does that leave us? Fourth Place.

Wow...the Camry's really gone from forgetably bland to unforgetably ugly. Quite the 180.

Reading the review, all they say about the Fusion is what I look for in this type of car. Heck, it's why I bought the Contour after all. I also think the Fusion is the best looking of the four, even if the rear looks like the last generation Accord. As for lack of options, I know how to read a map. Nav is for wussies. And pretentious show-offs.

In all fairness, they had quite a few positive things to say about the Fusion and little negative things. It just didn't have as many positives as the competition in regards to what the editors thought that their average reader would be looking for. It's worth noting though that, despite its' scoring, the editors recommended the Fusion and Sonata (3rd and 4th) over the Accord and Camry (1st and 2nd) from the 'value' perspective -- that what you got for the extra $6,000 in the competition very well may not be worth it to many buyers.

And the Fusion was the leader in 'Fun to Drive' which is what most people here are going to weighing heavier than your average buyer.

Don't underestimate Hyundai. They offer a really nice package for a good price, & the warranty is tops. If I were buying new & on a budget, it would be one of the first places I would stop.

Both the Accord and the Camry were beat by a Hyundai in an previous Edmund's comparison looking at the base, rather than the loaded models.

Thesedays, Hyundai makes a damn good car for your average joe.

The Hyundai is a great value. If driving excitment wasnt a factor I would be interested inone. They appear to be a great vehicle and the warranty cant be beat. I give them anther 5-10 years and they will be displacing Camery and Accord for 1st place. Ford came to the party late with a underpowered vehicle. If they are going to grab the more entheusiasts they need to pump out some more ponies.

The Lincoln clone with the 3.0L is just a joke. Why would anyone pay that much for that sort of drive train, when they can get all that in a vehicle 10 grand less!

Dont get me wrong,i'm not hating on the Fusion but its not exactly top tier when its paired against the competition.

I addressed this in another thread. I think Ford is going for the 'Ford in every garage' approach to selling cars. Good every-day cars that anybody can get some form of enjoyment out of. Good at everything, best at nothing kinda stuff.

Enthusiasts like use will always mod, so they don't really HAVE to put out an enthusiasts car, just a good platform to base one on. Let the aftermarket do the rest.

I'll have to agree with the engine part about the Lincoln. However, I disagree with you on the rest of the car. Until you have actually stood beside one and ridden inside one, its hard to make an accurate judgement of the Zephyr. There are many many many things the Lincoln has that neither the Fusion nor the Milan have.
