NO!!!!
If the problem goes away, the MAF was faulty.
By un-plugging the MAF you'll be running on some default fuel mix tables in the PCM. Therefore if the MAF was causing the problem and you unplug it, the car will smooth out when running on default tables.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.
