If there is no thermostat, doesn't the water keep circlulating through the system? If this is the case and it is cold in Canada will the engine ever get the water hot enough to throw heat? Just asking. I am for sure no expert.

Actually, the engine will still get warm enough to throw off some heat. However the question is if the water pump is actually pumping the coolant thry the system and it appears it's not.

Tomorrow I have another water pump coming in (had to order it) so hopefully that will cure the issue.

Let us know how it went, I think you will have fixed it. The metal plate is part of the housing with the hoses on it, you will see it when you change out the pump impeller unit.

Verdict is in, it was the water pump. The impeller was spinning on the shaft so no wonder it was overheating because it wasn't putting out any flow.

Looks like the head gaskets are fine (thank God), the heat is back as the coolant is now flowing. Ran the car for 45 minutes and the temp never went above the "M" (just above half way, probably because I put the stupid winter thermostat back in lol).

So many thanks to everyone here who diagnosed it was the water pump. You've all proven 2 licensed mechanics wrong lol.

The temperature won't go much above M because the cooling fans will come on. Now you can enjoy driving your car again Let your mechanics know you fixed it (politely), it might help them out later on..
