hah... i tell you what. you come down to inner city detroit, and attend high school there for a week. then tell me how likely it is that you will have the same opportunities as a white kid from the suburbs.
That's not what he was getting at... That's a whole other subject.
He's referring to the black vs white kids in the ghetto OR black kids vs white kids in the suburbs.
You can't just compare someone from the suburbs (who are generally more well off) with someone in the ghetto.
Countering your statement, does a white kid in the ghetto have the same opportunities as a black kid in the suburbs?
Now, I grew up in Idaho, where either there wasn't racism, or I was transparent to it. When I moved to Iowa when I was 13, I was like "whoa, WTF?" b/c everyone and their grandma (not EVERYONE, but you know) was racist against black/white people in some way. Now I'm in the military, and I've only heard a couple racist statments.
If I hear someone make a racist statement, joking or not, they automatically lose my respect.
