No, I don't think it's obvious. If I knew him personally, then it might be, but I don't. Therefore I have to assume what he said is what he meant. There's a reason you can preview your post before actually posting it, and a reason you can edit after posting. The extra minute or two of editing is worth it to make sure you are saying what you mean and meaning what you say.

well, if you have the ability to cognitively reason the point he is trying to make (i'll give you a hint, there is other stuff in his response besides that statement!), you would easily surmise that he didn't mean it that way. either you're looking for an argument, or you have the reasoning capability of a ten year old.

Oh, I read the post several times before responding. Knee-jerk reactions are seldom the correct ones anyway. Everything he said pointed toward the mentality that "the man" is what is keeping them down, when in fact in this day and age it is a lack of personal responsibility that is holding the majority back. You can't legislate away racism any more than you can poverty (hey liberals, re-read that sentence a few times and let it sink in). Throwing money and new laws at the problem won't change anything at this point. They have to want to be better/more successful before they can or will be.

And I'll thank you not to equate my reasoning capability with yours!

Yeap, discrimination definitely still exists. Jobs I've been at won't hire black people for certain positions. But then there are also scholarships just for black people and sometimes jobs will hire a minority just because the government says they have to, even if that person is under qualified.

And there is discrimination against every race.

As long as people can see colors, I doubt discrimination will ever go away.

"claim"?? WTF is wrong with you? it was theirs, then we took it all and forced them onto these little parcels of land. you need to buy a history book.

btw... i think chris rock said it best. when is the last time you saw an native american family together? ever see a family of native americans sitting having dinner at your local pizza hut? you may see one here or there, but you never see families outside of reservations. yet at one time, they were widely dispersed across north america. but hey, i'm sure living on a reservation is the greatest thing ever, right?

seriously, how old are you? 18?

Why do they get it tho? Lots of countries have been overthrown, people have been pushed all over the place, but it seems like these people get their way.

I agree that they should totally get some land, but not when they get greedy about it, most live in small towns surrounded by a HUGE area of un used land.

Im sorry but i believe in using everything to its full effect, that is, if someone wants to build some houses around a lake, that isnt being used, do it, its not like its stopped people before..

hah... i tell you what. you come down to inner city detroit, and attend high school there for a week. then tell me how likely it is that you will have the same opportunities as a white kid from the suburbs.

That's not what he was getting at... That's a whole other subject.

He's referring to the black vs white kids in the ghetto OR black kids vs white kids in the suburbs.

You can't just compare someone from the suburbs (who are generally more well off) with someone in the ghetto.

Countering your statement, does a white kid in the ghetto have the same opportunities as a black kid in the suburbs?

Now, I grew up in Idaho, where either there wasn't racism, or I was transparent to it. When I moved to Iowa when I was 13, I was like "whoa, WTF?" b/c everyone and their grandma (not EVERYONE, but you know) was racist against black/white people in some way. Now I'm in the military, and I've only heard a couple racist statments.

If I hear someone make a racist statement, joking or not, they automatically lose my respect.

+1 the argument is not about how your raised, its where your raised, and what your parents can do for you to become successfull, a white kid with a crack mom is still a kid with a crack mom, same with a black kid. Unless your telling me that the black crack baby is worse off than the white crack baby..

Tourige, I respect your description of a good upbringing resulting in good results, but that is an exception here. MX is simply trying to state that there are Supremist-esque employers out there (who were born in that era) and unfortunately, it has to be dealt with as reality until newer generations, who were taught otherwise, take the helm at running employment, corporations, etc.

Then we have to deal with their kids, who they more than likely pawned off some of their beliefs to...

Crazy rich people
