While it might not require a sealer I would have some grease or gasket glue handy if you replace the gasket. If you keep the old one it will be stuck on the cover so its no problem. If you replace it you need to fit it into the groves of the cover, not the head, and it tends to sag down everytime you attempt to turn it over to seat in on the head and get out of place.
