the metal spacers held the valve cover gasket for me in place when i was reinstalling the cover so i dint use no glues or anything

I think I used just a few dabs of silicone around the bolts. Not sure. I do know I used some where one of the spacers was missing.

Just change it. Cause you are going through the trouble to clean the part so kill 2 birds with one stone.

You know what sucks? getting slipped a 95/96 gasket and trying to make it work with a 97 motor. I was frustrated to say the least...
