Wrong.. In MI everybody has to file through their own carrier unless it is a "hit while parked" incident in which you would be able to file though the at fault party.
If he has LIPD only, the most he can do is file for a mini-tort through the at fault carrier for a max of $500.
If you have Broad form collision coverage your golden.. won't have to pay a dime.

You are right about the MI No-Fault provision with respect to Property Damage but I don't know how Broad Form ultimately helps other than out of pocket following a loss, as the carrier can raise your rates based on frequency of loss. MI system is crazy!

Tell me about it. It sucks.
My son is stationed at Camp LeJeune and they made him switch all of his vehicles to NC insurance (even though his car, van and bike are liscensed in MI)They don't recognize MI no fault insurance down there, and I don't blame them.

Got the word from the body shop. The quote is $250 from the insurance co. totalling it, so we are safe. The body shop owner said all parts will be replaced with Ford parts, except the grill. An aftermarket grill is available and that's what the insurance co. went for. The body shop owner said if the aftermarket grill is not up to snuff, we have enough leeway to replace it with original Ford part. The car goes into the shop Thursday and will be in for about seven working days.

WTF? Pinstripes are NOT factory. That is a stupidass dealer option.

Pinstripes belong on early 80's Caddy's.

Aftermarket SVT waffle pattern grille? Methinks you'll get the horizontal bars. Let us know if it is aftermarket waffle pattern. I'll take one.

That it is.. but from the looks of things he doesn't have a history of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. he's tagged not at fault. shouldn't have anything to worry about.
