Dumb! You cannot measure bearing pre load on a bearing thats already preloaded. How do you know HOW MUCH its pre loaded?...0.2 MM, 0.3MM? You MUST have the thinner shim in, measure the endfloat THEN place the correct shim in.Your explanation is BS. No reference shim to start means, without any endfloat there is NO WAY you can know the load on that bearing...period!
