Well I've got just barely enough feet of 4 gauge wire to reach the capacitor, something like 14 or 15 feet, and prolly 8-10 inches of 4 gauge from the cap to the amp. There is a considerably higher amount of dimming without the cap so I don't think that is the problem either. The battery is fine but I never thought to check the alternator since it's brand new. It was a remanufactured one tho...

I just got my alternator tested and apparently it is good. Let me know if you find out anything and I'll do the same as I am sick of this problem.

Ne one have any progress yet? Found out that my ground for my amps is grounded by the tail lights witch I heard is not a good spot so I am going to reground them to the trunk floor tonight. Also going to go over and check all wires for the amps.

the stock wiring is thin. its a bottleneck in the charging system if your putting a big load on the alt. if the batt and alt are fine, try upgrading the stock wiring. 4 gauge would be a safe bet. can anyone comment if 8 gauge would be fine to replace the stock grounds and the alt to batt power wire? should this alt to batt also have an inline fuse? the stock wire runs to the mega fuse then continues on. should the "parallel" wire to the batt be fused?

See, that is the issue I brought up with others on here about caps. Caps are a waste if your electrical system can't hack it to begin with. Upgrade the alt, and you would notice a lot of difference. Swap the alt and if you have the money and space, upgrade the big three to 2 gauge or larger. That should be a start.

I have the same problem as all you guys, I have a xstatic 400 batcap and my lights still dim. I will check on the cable from the bat to the alt, that's gotta be it cause I'm running 0 guage to the amp. I'll know in a couple of days when I get the chance to get a new cable in there.
